Shopify Plus in Australia: Pricing, GST, Afterpay and Shipping (2026)

Shopify Plus for Australian brands: AUD pricing, how GST works on Shopify, Afterpay and Zip, Australia Post and Sendle shipping, and when Plus is worth it.

Shopify Plus is Shopify's enterprise plan, and Australian brands use it the same way brands everywhere do: for B2B, checkout customisation, more storefronts and more automation. What's different in Australia is the set-up around it: prices in AUD, GST-inclusive pricing, buy-now-pay-later options shoppers expect, and local carriers. This guide covers each one, using Shopify's and the ATO's own pages.

The short answer: Shopify lists Plus from A$3,700 a month on a 3-year term or A$4,000 a month on a 1-year term. Australian stores set up GST with their own registration details, connect Afterpay or Zip through their Shopify integrations, and ship with Sendle, Australia Post or StarTrack through Shopify Shipping or carrier apps.

Shopify and Shopify Plus pricing in Australia

Shopify publishes its plan prices in Australian dollars:

Plan Billed monthly Billed yearly
Basic A$56/month A$42/month
Grow A$149/month A$114/month
Advanced A$575/month A$431/month
Shopify Plus From A$4,000/month (1-year term) From A$3,700/month (3-year term)

Standard plans from Shopify Australia pricing; Plus prices from the Shopify Help Center. Higher-volume brands may be offered a variable, revenue-based platform fee instead of the flat price, and Shopify notes that pricing can change, so confirm your figure in a quote. Apps, theme work and payment processing are extra.

GST on Shopify

GST is a 10% tax on most goods and services sold in Australia, and businesses must register once their GST turnover reaches $75,000 (ATO: how GST works, ATO: registering for GST).

On Shopify, Australia uses the Basic Tax service: you add your tax registration details and set up the rates, and Shopify applies them to orders (Shopify Help Center). Unlike the US, UK, EU and Canada, Australia isn't covered by Shopify's fully automatic tax service.

In practice, a launch checklist for an Australian store includes:

  • GST registration entered in the store's tax settings
  • Prices shown GST-inclusive, which is what Australian shoppers expect
  • Tax-invoice details (business name, ABN and GST) on order confirmations and invoices
  • Shipping tax set the way your accountant advises
  • A test order checked line by line before launch

Tax rules depend on your business, so we confirm the settings with your accountant before go-live.

Buy now, pay later: Afterpay and Zip

Buy-now-pay-later is part of how many Australians shop online. Shop Pay Installments, Shopify's own option, is available in the US, Canada and the UK, but not Australia (Shopify). Australian stores use providers instead:

Both also offer on-site messaging that shows the instalment price on product pages. On Shopify Plus, you can go further with your own checkout rules, such as showing or hiding payment methods for wholesale customers, built as custom apps with Shopify Functions.

Shipping and fulfilment

  • Sendle: Shopify Shipping lets Australian businesses buy and print Sendle labels from the Shopify admin (Shopify).
  • Australia Post and StarTrack: connected through carrier apps from the Shopify App Store, for live rates at checkout and label printing.
  • 3PLs: most Australian warehouses and 3PLs offer Shopify connections, so orders and stock stay in sync.
  • Click-and-collect: set up per store or warehouse location, so customers can pick up locally.

On Plus, delivery rules can also be customised, for example hiding express shipping for bulky items or remote postcodes.

Accounting, ERP and POS

Most Australian brands connect Shopify to Xero or MYOB through accounting apps, so sales, fees and GST flow into the books. Larger brands connect an ERP such as NetSuite or Microsoft Dynamics. If you sell in-store too, Shopify POS keeps online and retail stock in one place.

Selling to New Zealand and beyond

Shopify Markets handles local currency, language and domain for other countries from one store. Shopify Plus adds 9 expansion stores on top of your main store, which suits brands that want a separate New Zealand store, a wholesale store or a second brand (Shopify Help Center).

When Shopify Plus is worth it for an Australian brand

Plus usually pays for itself when one or more of these is true:

  1. You sell wholesale as well as retail. Unlimited B2B catalogues, price lists and payment terms in one store.
  2. You need checkout changes. Custom fields, delivery rules or payment rules in the checkout itself.
  3. You run more than one store. New Zealand, a second brand or a wholesale site.
  4. You're replatforming from Neto, Magento or a custom build and want enterprise features without enterprise hosting and maintenance.

Many single-brand, direct-to-consumer stores do well on Advanced for years. We'll tell you honestly which plan fits.

Moving to Shopify from Neto or Magento

Most Australian Plus projects start with a replatform. Your products, customers, order history and Google rankings can all come across, with every old URL redirected. See how we handle Neto (Maropost) to Shopify and Magento to Shopify migrations, and what a move typically costs in our Magento to Shopify migration cost guide.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Shopify Plus cost in Australia? Shopify lists Plus from A$3,700 a month on a 3-year term or A$4,000 a month on a 1-year term. Higher-volume brands may be offered a variable, revenue-based fee instead.

Does Shopify calculate GST automatically? Not fully. Australia uses Shopify's Basic Tax service: you add your GST registration and set up the rates, then Shopify applies them to orders. Check the settings with your accountant.

Can I offer Afterpay on Shopify? Yes. Afterpay and Zip both have Shopify integrations for checkout, plus on-site messaging for product pages.

Is Shop Pay Installments available in Australia? No. Shopify lists it for the US, Canada and the UK only, so Australian stores use Afterpay, Zip or similar providers.

Can Shopify ship with Australia Post? Yes, through Australia Post carrier apps from the Shopify App Store. Sendle labels can also be bought directly in Shopify.

Do we need Shopify Plus, or is Advanced enough? Advanced suits many brands. Plus is worth it for B2B, checkout customisation, several storefronts or advanced automation.
